Bay of island is full of various sailboats from many different world travelers. Including the Téou, a French catamaran I met in Dakar, Sénégal, three years ago. Christophe, Maïken and their children hosts us in their giant homemade catamaran for some days in the bay, catching oysters and mussels. Their adventure are on http://catateou.travelblog.fr/.

These dreaming days permit us to relax from the weariness of our crossing and prepare ourselves to start going. Our plan is mainly designed by the location of Nadège’s bike in the Coromandel, 300kms south from here. She left it there when she came to Tahiti to join me in June 2010.

However I first want to see the northernmost point of Aotearoa (Maori name for NZ), the cape Reinga. So she will go hitchhiking while I’ll be biking.

When we start on the 10th January, it sounds like a new start for the world tour as it had been two years (January 2009) I had stopped bike-touring when I arrived in Panama. I feel so much excited about it, let’s GO!

We get to Cape Reinga some days later, hitchhiking being very easy and safe for Nadège.
